Connect with me on twitter @AnthonyNSmith if you want to discus this!
Hi Anthony, that's a really nice map. Did you hear about the opendata hackathon - or interested in coming out to open data hacking events in Vancouver?
Hi David, I would love to participate - could you post a link here or on twitter (@anthonynsmith) to the next event in January? (I live in Vancouver, so if its within cycling distance or accessible by transit even better) Thanks for the encouragement! Anthony.

quick'n'dirty viz from #odhd yesterday - more to come soon!
Nice!!! I'm still working on my project. Will be emailing ODHDers later this week to encourage them to publish their spoils of the day.
Hi David
Does the data provided by ICBC include the type of crashi.e. vehicle driver making right turn hitting cyclist. Would be helpful
when discussing safety concerns with city transportaion engineers.
John
Hi John - have just sent an email to ICBC asking them about this. Will let you know what response I get, will also ask them who I can put you in touch with regarding these types of requests.
cheers,
dave
Does ICBC have similar data for auto/auto and auto/ped collisions? It's fine if auto/auto includes single-vehicle collisions -- drunk drivers smashing into trees or dozing drivers heading off cliffs
Hi Eric,
ICBC will have similar data for the other types of data you mentioned. They don't have an open data portal (sadly) but you can write them and request the data (that's what I did). I'm sure you can ask for data prior to 2006 as well - I just asked for 5 years worth of data.
I've got a pretty good in there so can ask for more, or can try to connect with the right people.
hey deaves (and congrats btw), I find it hard to believe icbc doesn't have data before 2006 on this. Was this released as a trial?
I am v. excited about this. Hope I can figure it all out today. Think I'm going to make a #RHoK tweet database too.
What are you guys planning on doing with this data?
face, please! :D
Great work getting this data up and I love the conversations below Here is my contribution to this project, a way to look at the general patterns in this data within Greater Vancovuer: http://bit.ly/uSKcI0
