Transport Canada Vehicle Recalls

This is a copy of the Transport Canada Road Safety Recalls Database, which lists every vehicle recall in Canada. This data covers vehicle model years from the 1970s to 2012, and is current as of March 19, 2012.

This is a snapshot only - more recalls have been issued since then.

For the articles, we focused on vehicles that were more likely to still be on the roads - from 1990 and 2000 onwards. But the old data is interesting too.

Some notes: a single recall might affect many vehicle models/years. These are all listed on different rows in the raw data. But no matter how many vehicles are affected, every recall has a unique identifying number, found in the data.
