Toronto water main breaks 1990-2011:
Interactive map: North York and Etobicoke have Toronto’s highest water main break rates
This is a list of the date and location for every water main break in the current City of Toronto from January 1, 1990 to December 31, 2011.
The data comes from a Global News Freedom of Information request to the City of Toronto. We have converted the geographic data to a more standard latitude-longitude.
Some things learned from this data set: Breaks are most common in winter, the number of breaks has been generally trending downward, and more breaks happen in the north and western parts of the city.
